Headlight conversion

is there a kit I can buy to change the headlight from the stock sealded beam to one that takes a bulb?

A kit, no.

You'll need to swap out the light completely.
Any Rebel from '06 on up will be a direct swap; call Jack.

Barring that, he's got an aftermarket unit that works well, too.

The caddy kid even has links to the proper JC Whitney parts.

I recently completed the conversion, and it works like a champ. I added the Amperite modulator to the mix to help the blind cagers see me a little better.

I just swapped out the headlight on my 85 with one from an 05. It is a very easy job to do. All you need is a 17 mm socket and ratchet, plus some needle nose pliers to help get the new wires hooked into the rats nest of wires that are behind the headlight. It took all of 10 minutes, maybe.
