| I am trying to decide if I should add one. What are the pro's and con's? I was hoping it would help me not feel so beat up by the wond when I go 60+ mph. |

It'll help. Get one.
I don't have one on my Shadow, and I love it that way, but speeds north of 60ish suck. High speeds is what the Concours if for anyway.
I had one on my Rebel, wasn't convinced of its effectiveness, plus I didn't like the looks of it, so I removed it. Put it right back on though. It made a big difference. _________________ Tom

My vote says get one! You can ride a heck of a lot longer without having to fight the wind the whole way. There still are drafts and what not but not as bad without. And you don't have to taste the bugs. _________________ working on it. |

I hate my windshield. I have never been able to figure out how to get positioned so the wind isn't bouncing my head around like a rubber ball. I don't like the way side winds catch it and make me feel like I'm about to have the front end yanked out from under me. And I don't mind riding without one at high speeds... so mine is just sitting in the garage, collecting dust.
I suppose it makes a difference if you can get it positioned well...I just plain gave up. _________________ ~Thumper~

Somtimes it's about shape and size as well as position.
For instance, I've discovered that the typical cruiser "riot shield" or "tombstone" is one of the crappiest shields on earth for actually doing any good. _________________

Get a windshield! Not only will you feel better after a long ride but I like the protection if offers. A pebble flying out of a tire tread from a vehicle ahead of you is like a bullet. Also, oncoming cars and trucks can throw little missles in the air for you to find the hard way. In fact, I have had more windshields wrecked over the years on my pickups from oncoming traffic. Be vary cautious if the vehicle in front of you is swerving near the shoulder...a big tire hitting the gravel on the shoulder throws up multiple warheads.
Recently, I found and new dent in the chrome on my headlight housing caused by a road missle...it was obvious from the damage that flying object could have easily put an eye out. Get a windshield and never look back on your decision. |

I'd like to help, but I can't give you an unbiased opinion. I hate the cussed things.
However, there are many folks here that run them-- the majority of the active members do, anyway. The general concensus seems to be the spitfire, but you might want to solicit opinions from folks running other choices as well.
Good luck, and happy hunting! _________________

I also have a spitfire. Took a few test rides to position it right. Works great! _________________ working on it. |

Now I have used flyscreens on occaision. I like that you still get a good bit of breeze, but you can sort of 'shape' how it flows around you. The name "Flyscreen" is a bit misleading, however. You've got to be going a pretty good clip before you actually get bugs caught up and tossed to the side.
And, if you're bike is shaped right, you can tuck your face in behind it in a surprise rain.
Still not my thing, but I prefer them to a full-on shield, yes. _________________

the undefined variables in your question is 'gust' ... by gust(singular) I am going to assume you mean the wind blast and buffeting associated with head on wind rush from the bike's speed ... as above the answer is already indiacted as a : 'yes, it IS a wind sheild and as such sheilds me from the wind(as defined above ffor 'gust')'
if by 'gust' you actually meant "gusts(plural)", as in gusting cross winds (as opposed to head winds or tail winds), or buffeting gusts from big trucks (suv's, cars, lawnmowers, etc) passing you (or you passing them)
if thats what you were asking, then : NO, the wind sheild is not designed to cover those type "gusts" as it's shadow of protection is behind and not wrapped around to the sides

I have the spitfire and swear by it, it has allowed me to ride daily in temperatures as low as 18 degrees and I am still alive to type about it.
I always felt chilled riding on my chest and the shield has changed that.
Saved my head on a couple occasions. I had a bat hit it once, better that than me. Riding in the rain is much less painful, and the Junebugs are out. _________________

I am 5'2" so my spitfire is great. I can tell a big difference with it on. It is warmer in cooler weather and great for bug collecting during the warmer months. I am finding that I have to clean it after a ride or two at night. I like having it much better. _________________ '07 *Candy Dark Red* Rebel

I,ve read all the pro's & con's of the windshield. My question is does
anybody have a picture of the spitfire that is somewhat larger than
a postage stamp at 40 yards Seriously I would like to see
a good clean clear picture before laying down my ever decreasing
dollars!!!
Thanks H2OmAn _________________ Never, Ever, needed anything but my God &
