the rebel is coming along pretty nicely. I will have to post pics when it is finished. just put the new tank tank on today. but I am having a problem with the petcock. on the original there was an o ring and some plastic tube that I pulled out but got damaged. now the petcock on the new tank tank is leaking as in stream. what is that plastic tube that kinda looks like a pen? or tube , strawlike. can I pull it out a litte and cut off the damaged end?it is only like a quarter inch that is damaged. and the o-ring. the ones I got are slightly too big. do I need to get a new tube? or just replace the o-ring or both.

That tube, if I read you right, is the fuel intake for the petcock (sits in the tank). It effectively creates the 'reserve'. Look at the petcock from above, with the tube in place, and turn the lever to reserve, then off, then on. See how different orifi are opened. Sure, you should be able to trim it. In fact, if you remember that you no longer HAVE a reserve, you can dispense with it completely.
