I used to be a bird person too. I did this for ten years as a volunteer. It's where I met my hubby. But, then I got a real job and had no time to get out there.

That's a female golden eagle. She has a 6 foot wing span.

One of our volunteers made the eagle sheaths. Underneath it is just a regular falconer's glove. Well it has some extra layers of leather though because the birds are wild birds and tend to grip a bit harder than a trained falconer's bird would. And also because most of them are injured and have balance problems so they'd hold on tighter. They weren't very warm actually but probably were pretty windproof. Definitely better than nothing, which was on the other hand, so you could handle the leash.

Working with those birds has gotta be the coolest thing I've ever done. That and Peace Corps.

Nope, still not working.

That Conure's a good looking bird! I love Conures... I actually went shopping for a Sun Conure when I found Tarzan for only $500 more. He's got a great personality, and he only threatens to bite when you steal his Chili peppers.

He's quite smart. He knows bannana, and he knows cherry. Last week I was eating an apple in front of him and he kept telling me "I want bannery." I couldnt figure it out for the longest... I got it now though! He sees the yellow inside, like a bannana and he sees the red outside like a cherry = bannery! Smart little bugger.

That eagle is AMAZING! I'd love to hold one. Tarzan's claws kill my arm - I cant imagine the damage one of those would do! That glove is mandatory!

Hey Jordan- I'm ni marketing and learned the Adobe suite on my own since there were no classes locally so I have no doubt you could do this on your own if you wanted to design.

Let's see. I started out working at veterinary hospital so I can wash a mean-MIKE LANCE cat which is definitelty a skill! No animals come to visit our house without leaving with a nail trim!

I then worked for a number of years in retail so I can handle buying and inventory and can do some pretty neat diaplay merchandisijng.

I have been in credit union marketing for the past 7+ years and have a passion for credit unions. My hubby and I are moving to the Olympic Peninsula in June to build our home and we'll be job hunting by fall.

Personally, I homebrew a really nice butternut squash spice ale. We've both got some good ways with Alaska seafood. Hubby is really good mechanically - especially being able to picture things as they *should* be in his head. I'm more of a follow-the-manual type of person. But we're both hard workers and are willing to trade labor for a place to stay if you're in a destination type area! I speak spanish and we both have some signature dishes to cook for you as we love to cook and will be building our home accordingly!

I'm good with color, organizing, and have skills in graphic design, hence the interest in a decal for our forum! Need a flyer or brochure? Check my current job and site at www.truenorthfcu.org!

Hubby is a programmer for the State of Alaska- you'd have to ask him more as its over my head. He's on the Hawk GT Forum.

Mmmm...alaskan seafood

I was looking at a sun conure before I got Spike. The sun was very mean, bitter little bird. Spike was 4 months when I got him & he was the first bird that didn't run to the back of the cage when I went up to it, that's how I knew he was the one. Price wasn't a concern, I just wanted a good birdie. After my experience with my amazon, I took my time finding one (that was an expensive experience).

Spike doesn't bite, at least not me...he's got a beef w/ toes, you don't want to be barefoot around him, he's very demanding about trying whatever you're eating. About 17 yrs ago I worked the night-time drive-thru at a bank, it was just two of us, I'd take him w/ me. I left him in his cage until he got used to the noise from the vacuum tubes & then I let him run around the window...customers got a great kick out of him. Birds are hilarious, I love macaws, wish I had the time to devote to one. Tarzan sounds beautiful, personality & color.

The eagle is awesome! What a great experience!

I love birds!!

My ex's mom bred exotic birds for a living. She had Amazons, African Grays (Their voices are just like human's... it's creepy) and all sorts of others.

My favorite was their pet Umbrella Cockatoo. He used to ride around on the dogs back screaching 'rock and roll, rock and roll'.
Sooo funny

Birds are awesome but a lot of work! I currently have a leopard gecko but can't wait until we build and can go adopt a couple cats. I had a bunch of lizards, a hedgehog, fish, a Jack Russell, and a Cornish Rex all at the same time for a while!

Homebrew meeting tomorrow night...we *do* find stuff to do here during the dark months! Good news though - I noticed this morning that the flower bulbs are poking through the mulch! Could spring be around the corner? And daylight savings tinme change is only about a week away!

Oh and Ethan- I forgot about the shooting! Can't say I have skills but I do like it. Have a .22 Ruger LR, .22 cheapie pistol (for halibut), .357 Ruger Security Six revolver, .45 Para Ordnance P10-45, Browning .243, and Marlin .45-70 Guide Model. Gotta start sending them down to Washington with folks flying Alaska Airlines as most of that I can't drive through Canada.

If I make it to any rally - you'll know me as I'll be the one showing up with a keg strapped to the bike!

Cooking, thus eating.

Gardening...I can spend HOURS out in my yard making things just so! Right now I'm working on a large flagstone patio in my garden. And I HATE WEEDS!!! Evil or Very Mad

Also love my animals...currently a dumb, but lovable black lab named Fred, and a rescue Greyhound named Bizzy-B...If I could afford it I'd be adopting more dogs, cats (though the greyhound would most likely eat the cats).

I'd like to try my hand at beekeeping and making my own honey, but I haven't checked yet if it's "legal" within my zoning laws.
